Hi guys
I am endeavouring to compile Far North Orders of Battle for the Soviet air forces at the various quarters of 1942. Any information appreciated. Cheers Brian |
Re: Soviet Far North Order of Battle 1942
Hello Brian
I 'll post a scan from a Finnish book (Valtonen's LWn Pohjoinen Sivusta, 1997) when I'll have time to reconnect my scanner, hopefully tomorrow. It gives the Soviet strenght up North, that of the VVS SF on 1 May 42 and those of 14th A AF and PVO on 22 Apr 42. Juha |

Hello Brian
pages 176 and 177 of the earlier mentioned book, the note says that the source(s) is/are the letter from Juri Rybin [the author of Ospreys Soviet Hurricane Aces; Juha] on 5 June 1996, a map constructed from archive material. Juha |

Hi Juha
Great stuff - something to get my teeth into! I can't find Montshegorsh - is that a Finnish name for Russian location? OK -JUST FOUND IT - SLIGHT MISSPELLING! Cheers Brian |
Re: Soviet Far North Order of Battle 1942
Hello Brian
Finns traslitterate cyrillics slightly differently than Englismen e.g. Jakovlev vs. Yakovlev. Juha |
