636576 Sgt Ronald N. Lewis
Hi guys
Sgt Ronald Lewis was just 17 when lost on 20 July 1940, while flying as an Air Gunner aboard a 51 Squadron Whitley (P5007) Information according to CWGC. Presumably falsified his age? Any comments? Cheers Brian |

Re: 636576 Sgt Ronald N. Lewis
Brian,
2./NJG1 Staffelkapitan Werner Sreib shot down Whitley V-Victor P5007 in the early hours of 20 July 25 km north-west of Kiel. FL Steve Curry and three others perished with one becoming a POW. Also: AIR 81/1157 1940 Jan 01 – 1952 Dec 31 Flight Lieutenant S E F Curry, Sergeant J Tansley, Sergeant A J Harris and Sergeant R N Lewis: report of deaths. Sergeant G R Hunter: prisoner of war; Whitley P5007 crashed at Dorenthe near Ibbenburen and Saerbeck, Germany, 20 July 1940 I'm sure Theo will probably have a more detailed account. Kind Regards Andy Bird |
