Hello Peglar,

I have collected hundreds of photo of the aircraft abandoned at Fl.Horst Neubiberg, Germany after the war. I can assure you that 582304 is the correct WNr. for Fw 190 F-8, 13+ -, illustrated above.

Also (and not directed at Peglar), that photo is among a number of superb photographs taken by my late friend Merle C. Olmsted of the 357th FG. Sadly, due to his generosity, his photos have been used and reused and almost never attributed to him. In fact, some scoundrels have had the Gaul to publish them and claim them as their own; thereby proving that some people have not one whit of honor.

Merle was very generous, I had contact with him for many years and the 357th FG Reunion in Long Beach in 1993 is still remembered vividly....sorry to hear that people claim stuff their own when it really came from merle.

Yes it is very sad. Many of Merle Olmsted's superb Neubiberg photos appear with credits to individuals, who has no copyrights of them at all (and who even don't know their origin).

Dear Steve,

For me the few pages you have published in 1984 in Airfoil number are still to date the best pages and photos published on the german planes which ended the war on the airfield of Neubiberg.

Are-you planning to publish the actual result of your researches ?

Best regards from Alsace.

The internet is not helping people understand copyright law. You can look at an image but you cannot print it in a book, magazine or other medium. And you cannot claim a copyright on the image for which you do not have the copyright or permission from the owner/copyright holder. People also do not understand that proper attribution is required. Example: "Reprinted from the collection of James Stone by permission."

Re: A sharp photo of a late war 190

Just a quick correction to note for the unit ID - it's a 6./SG10 aircraft, not SG2. II./SG2 aircraft did not carry the Luftflotte 4 ID markings other photos of this aircraft show it carried.

Cheers,
Chris
