Lancaster KO-G
At the Fairlop Fair held on the site of the old airfield this saturday there was a display in one of the marquees which included a photo of a crashed and burning Lancaster . The caption said 'April 1945 KOG crashed at Mildenhall', one of the crewman ex 115 Sqd. was there and he said the crash was as the result of a burst tyre. The photo shows the code clearly as KO-G and the aircraft painted in white in prepartion for Tiger Force. I could not find anything online about this incident and downloaded the 115 Sqd ORB for April 1945, all I found was seven missions for a KO-G serial PB524. Is there a definite date for the incident in the photo, I thought it might be later than April if painted up for Tiger Force, and id for the aircraft and crew who I believed survived with injuries. I did not think 115 Sqd was scheduled for Tiger force ?

Re: Lancaster KO-G
Thanks Ed that would preclude PB 524 as being the crashed Lancaster in the photo,
