Dear max,

Ever since you burst upon the TOCH! scene in 2015, you've been asking a lot of detailed questions, some of which get answered and some not. At the same time, as far as I can tell, you've never offered the forum any information. What are you planning to do with all of this information?

The standard etiquette among the membership is to answer newbie questions as a courtesy, because we've all been newbies at one time. The general expectation, though, is that members both ask and freely share information. It's how the forum works. We have a huge amount of expertise and by sharing we all benefit.

A word to the wise.

Regards,
Richard

Hans Dieterle on 30 September, 1944 with no time being stated for take off or landing by any source.

Hans Lerche states that it was, "in the evening," of April 23, 1945 for the last take off and landing. (Smith, Creek, Hitchcock ~ pg. 79)

Thanks for letting us know, Max.

It would be good when people ask a question if they could give the rest of us an idea what they are working on. I think most of us are curious to know what's going on in Luftwaffe research outside our own particular areas.

All I was saying is that it is interesting for everyone to find out what members of the forum are working on. You told us about what you are doing and I hope others will do the same in future.

Max - Exactly. It's a forum, not a jukebox. People will always be more inclined to pitch in and answer a question if they are provided with context.

As for Lerche's landing time, this is not known. My understanding is that his son still has his father's Flugbuecher but for whatever reason has chosen not to make these available to researchers.

Dear Max,

I'm sorry, but I can't buy your explanation. Your questions have a predominant theme of wanting to know operational details, which has nothing to do with building models. Your questions are so detailed that you are clearly drawing them from one or more sources. The impression I was getting was that you were writing an article or book and were using the TOCH! membership as your free private source of information.

Many in the TOCH! membership have done extensive archival research, so a lot of what you get is the sweat off of their brows. Some will quote from a published book or article, while others will give you the information without any referencing whatsoever, meaning that you have no way to judge its voracity.

My recommendation to you is that you build up a library and/or go archiving yourself so that you are contributing as much as you are getting.

Regards,
Richard
