Sgt THIRKELL/THIRKILL/THURKELL

Hi guys

The above served with 59 Squadron Blenheims as a gunner in 1940. He is shown in the ORB and other records as the above, and also with the Service No. 33308, which is not correct.

Our colleagues on RAF Commands Forum have been very helpful but have now drawn a blank.

Long shot: I have filed a THIRKELL, Patrick Herbert Harrold, 905398 RAF, Sgt WO/AG at 44 Squadron in May 1941.

If the name THIRKELL/THIRKILL/THURKELL was a quest in the handwritten ORB of 59 Squadron, perhaps his service number was also hardly legible and with a bit fantasy 905398 could have been read and transcribed as 33308....

Unfortunately the Form 540 of ORB 44 Squadron doesn't mention the posting in/out of crews so I can't check if above mentioned fellow was transferred from 59 Squadron.
