The identification is as follows: 29th October 1940 Bf109E-4 Wn.5794 1+l 8/JG26 Marsh House Farm, Tillingham Essex 17:00hrs Attacked from both sides by Hurricanes and the pilot baled out; the aircraft diving into soft ground, buried and burnt out. A few .303 strikes found on pieces of wreckage. Armament: traces of one 20mm cannon found ID:60316, AW:white, Dortmund, 15/1/40 FP:39874 Brussels Ff: Fw Konrad Jäckel Battle of Britain Then and Now Volume V records loss on page 702, crediting victory to Pilot Officer Kumiega and Sergeant Hogg of 17 Squadron Tadeusz Leon Kumiega http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/Kumiega.htm Robert Dudley Hogg http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/HoggRD.htm |
