Loss of 3(F)/31 Do17 4094 "5D+DL" 5 Dec 1940 off Portloe, Cornwall

Rudi Lang's Dornier 17 was shot down by PO Boddington of 234 Sqn about 3pm on Thursday 5th December 1940 just off the south coast of Cornwall near Portloe.

I would be grateful if anyone can give me any more details of the crew of the Dornier, which airfield it had taken off from, and to confirm my belief it was on a reconnaissance mission centred on Portland.

Finally, local eyewitnesses on the Cornish coastline spoke of one of the Dornier crew baling out. I'd be grateful if anyone could confirm whether any of the crew survived, were rescued, were captured etc.

Any information gratefully received.
