Wnr 3577,a Bf110?

1 Attachment(s)
Let's see if someone can help sorting out if this is a genuine part of a Bf110 .

A very small picture, I am sorry, and to me it is at least not complete. It is claimed to come from a Bf110 that came down in the Murmansk area and the sign reads Mtt. A.G. :3577, 110.14.04.4114.

From what I have found out on this site is that there is a Do17P and a He111 with Wnr 3577.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thank you in advance
Peter

Hi Peter

Bf110 C-4 - Built by MIAG in 07.40 - Stkz GF+KH and with II./NJG 3 that made an emergency landibg at Venlo a/f. with engine trouble resulting in 50% damage. Then a record (source not known with Aufkl.Gr.33 07.42. and marked as GI+FM.
Do17 P-1 - Built by Henschel. Marked as K7+GL and with 3./Nacht.Aufkl.Gr. and lost 100% on 26.07.41 at Waldai-Volochek, Russia. (Fw.Adam Trinkl; Lt.Peter Killet; Uffz.Otto Hensel all MIA).
He111 H-5 - Built by NDW (Dornier). Stka RN+GA of 1./KGrzbV.5. 31.03.42 to 27.04.42.

The plate you have might not be a main identification plate but from a part built/supplied by Mtt.

I thought the "110" on the plate indicates that it IS from a Bf-110. Perhaps a sub-assembly, but still Bf-110.

Thank you Tom, gogh and Revi16,

Then I know there was a Bf110 with that Wnr. And from what I can find out, 2(F) and 4(H) Aufkl.Gr.33 was in Russia at 07.42 with Bf110, but not in the Murmansk area.

From the peace that goes with the plate there is some text giving the code MBZE but that doesn't fit any unit code nor does it fit the stkz Tom gives.

I guess it would be very difficult to link the plate to an specific Bf110, it might even be a construcktion to deceive.

Attaching the whole picture

While a nice plate, it's definitely not a Bf110 main ID plate. The stkz/code on the display frame's tag, and on the Bf110 in the photo, is M8+ZE. A number of such framed souvenir pieces were made, showing different photos of this airplane as found in Russia in the 1990s, and including various plates perportedly from the wreck. The W.Nr. of this particular Bf110 was 4502. Can't say for sure if the photo-framed plates were in fact from M8+ZE/4502, but it's possible. Plates with different W.Nr. on a single airplane is the norm. Typically, the W.Nr. are for individual parts, not the plane's main number, thus all different. Alternatively, such part plates did sometimes list the plane's main number, and parts from different planes were known to be intermixed during maintenance, repair, and model upgrade, etc., possibly bringing plates with different main numbers onto the same airplane. There was speculation that 4502, an E-model, or parts thereof, may have evolved from an earlier 110 C-model with a different W.Nr.

Hello

I did find following entries in my Bf110 database:

Reel 4/Luftwaffe losses: 22th November 1941, Werkenr.3577, D5+BP from 6./NJG 3, emergency landing at Fliegerhorst Venlo because of motor failure, 50% damage, crew OK (pilot known from a Flugbuch)

Reel 6/Luftwaffe losses: 1th July 1942, Werkenr. 3577, H8+FM from 4./(H) 33, no cause given, indication of the area where this Bf110 was lost/missing: Mal-Wischeva, 3 killed in action, 100% loss

Best regards, Marcel
