1692 Flight 15 Feb 1944 friendly fire incident
 

Hi guys

Seeking more about an incident that occurred on 15 February 1944, when an aircraft of 1692 Flight entered a restricted area and was fired upon (damaged?) Sgt R.V. Cook was wounded/injured (info provided by Bob Collis)

Radar Development Flight became 1692 Flight in June 1943 for Serrate training. To 100(SD) Group in DEC 43.
Drem, Little Snoring from DEC 43 to APR 44, Great Massingham.
Flew Defiants, Beaufighters, Mosquitos, also Ansons and Wellingtons.
Cook was a RO http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/CookRV.htm

My records say 1692 Flight in Feb 1944 was a Bomber Support Training Flight still based at Little Snoring and was used to train Mosquito crews for 100 Group on Serrate.

As above it flew Beaufighters and Mosquitos, and a least one Defiant, one Wellington, Anson and Hurricane and used the codes 4X.

Are you still trying to find the aircraft type involved? Presumably Cook as RO didn't have to bail out and the pilot was able to land?

Any help appreciated. Did Chorley do a book that included such units?

Chorley , vol 8 yes the Unit is in there but I could not see any reference to this incident, probably because the a/c was not lost or wrecked.

Not to confuse but there was a F/Sgt. F.L. Cook of 7 Sqdn taken POW on the 15th. Tail gunner in Lancaster III - JB414"MG-Y" . The rest of the crew were all killed..
