German KU-Reports
Hi to all,
I'm new here. Does anybody know where I can get an overwiew about existing german KU-Reports? Looking for a special day: 11.april 1945 thanks for any information. stebo69 |
KU Documents
I cannot comment on the current status or location of KU documents in Germany.
A vast number of KU documents are held in the United States by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), at Archives II - College Park, Maryland. I believe these are filed as part of RG 242, Captured German Records, but I am not certain about this. NARA staff will have to inform you about the record group in which KUs are held. Copies of the KUs for USAAF aircrew down on a given date should also be found as part of the Missing Aircrew Reports (MACRs) covering the individual aircraft losses for 11 April 1945. RA |
Hi RA,
thanks for your answer. I have the MACR, but this is as the US saw it. I want to know the point of view form the germans. And I want to know what was happened to the wreck. greetings Stebo69 |
KU Reports
Unfortunately, according to the best finding aid for these reports (a chronological index of reports held as a part of RG 92), there are only TWO reports held for a crash after the end of March 1945 (an Invader on 23/4/45 and a Liberator on 25/4/45).
The only way to know for sure would be to personally go through the original reports - a rather daunting task and probably not worth the effort if no report exists. Cheers Rod |
@ Rod
thanks for your answer. Do you have any infos of KU-Reports from 12.July 1944. Looking for a B-24 crashed near Huetting / Germany best regards Stebo69 |
KU reports content
HI guys,
a bit off topic, but do you ahve experiences what does the KU report contaion? how many poages and what kind a info or formulars were attached? Thanks Peter:) |
Hi Peter,
have never seen a KU-Report. But I have some MACRs. There are a lot of details. regards Stebo69 |
MACR and KU
I am working with MACRs a long time..so I know what is inside. Sometimes there is a list of captured crew written by German side. I am wondering if that is what we call KU report or there might be much more, as which unit captured the airmen, who moved the wreck etc...
Peter:) |
@peter
yes, I have a MACR too with informations about the vcaptured crew with a link to the german KU-Report, but I don't know if this is all, sorry. best regards Stebo69 |
Where are the counterpart files for the RAF, they called KE-Reports?
KE stand for: Kampf-Flugzeug Englisch KU " Kampf-Flugzeug USA There are also so called AV-Meldungen, they are often part of one MACR. As an example: I holt an KU from an B-24, crashed in France, it have photos from the plane and from all the dog-tags from the Crewmembers! |
