Loss of 51 Squadron Halifaxes HR842 and HR844, 23-24 May 1943 Dortmund raid

Dear all,

51 Squadron suffered the loss of four Halifaxes during the 23-24 May 1943 Dortmund raid, a fifth Squadron aircraft crashing on landing. Losses included Halifaxes HR842 and HR844. Who can give me any info on the cause of loss (both downed by Flak?) and crash locations of these two Halifaxes? The pilot of HR842 was killed but all 13 other crew members survived to be taken prisoners of war.

Cheers and thanks for any leads, Theo
