Kiel Bombed August 1942
Doing a piece on U-468: Its commander Schamong mentions a bombing raid which nearly scuppers they're training in the latter part of August 1942 - 17th to 31st.
Having done a quick search I can't find any 'major' raid and therefore wonder if it may have been an individual aeroplane or aircraft off loading bombs not having reached their intended target ? Andy B |
Re: Kiel Bombed August 1942
Hello,

Re: Kiel Bombed August 1942
The other raid to consider is the one on Flensburg on the 18th, 11 Halifaxes, 16 Hampdens, 26 Lancasters, 23 Stirlings and 42 Wellingtons
Kiel and Flensburg are fairly near each other, though I know which one is the prettier Martin |
