Luftwaffenhelferin Angela Schwirz

Hello gentlemen!

On 15. August 1944 the 19 years old Luftwaffenhelferin Angela "Anni"
Schwirz was killed by an accident on airfield Reichenbach. She was deadly
hit by the undercarriage of a Bf 109.
In the memories of Unteroffizier Konrad Augner I could get these
informations:
The involved Bf 109 was a G-12,
the pilot was Unteroffizier Pirmin Deibert, flight instructor at JG 106.

By checking the loss list from JG 106 (Thank you, Matti!) I could only
find this damage that day:
Bf 109 G-6 W.-Nr. 162615 10% Rollschaden (!)
Is it possible that W.Nr. 162615 was a G-6 cell rebuild as G-12?
Is there any information available to the fate of Uffz. Pirmin Deibert?

Thank you very much in advance!

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang

Is it possible that the 109 did not get damaged?

Of course, Mathieu! That is possible, too!
It is also possible that Augner´s memories are wrong!
The damage of the G-6 will fit perfect to the accident.
This is the best way to get the answer!

162615, was not a known G-12 model, in august 44, a plane built i. April 44 hv really no time to get damaged, transported to B+V nd then transform in G-12...

Re: Luftwaffenhelferin Angela Schwirz

Hello guys,

there is a WASt-report for Angela Schwirtz filed at JG 106.
Mrs. Schwirtz, born 25.12.1924, was a "Gefolgschaftsmitglied" at 3rd Staffel, working as "F und S-Personal". She was hit by a landing aircraft ("Durch ein Flugzeug bei der Landung tödlich verletzt"). No information on the a/c itself.

"Rollschaden" is "damaged while taxying on the ground" which is not the same as "Unfall bei der Landung". So it would be rather unlikely, that WNr. 162615 was the a/c which hit Mrs. Schwirtz.

Regarding the subtype of WNr. 162615 I second Rémi, as we have no information on that a/c being rebuilt to G-12 until August 1944. A/c with Werknummern nearby were accepted around 25. Feb 1944 at Regensburg-Obertraubling and perhaps WNr. 162615 was one of the birds damaged during "Big Week" and was repaired and delivered directly to a training unit.

Carl

At a landing speed of 130km/h the tyre rubber is like stone. It is able to kill a person whereas the tyre remains undamaged
