RAF Me 410

I have just been shown 3 photos of an Me 410 with RAF roundels and the code HT (154 Sqn?) taxying out on a Mediterranean airfield and then burning on the ground. Anyone have any ideas as to the date it might have been captured and identity of the Me 410?

Re: RAF Me 410

Chris, perhaps this answers your query...

The following narrative appeared (together with the photos...) in the Aeroplane Monthly of April 1975, p. 204. - it is apparently a Me210 of ZG1. "All three photos on this page show the ... Me410 ... captured intact by 601 Sqn, RAF, at Gerbini, on August 25, 1943. It was left behind when the RAF moved on and was made airworthy by 12th Bomber Group personnel. ... A test flight was attempted by LtCol G. E. Hall, Grp Ops Officer on October 1, 1943. As the pilot opened up for take-off one engine seemed to run away, pulling the aircraft off the runway and preventing it from becoming airborne. The top photograph (2nd photo) was taken near the end of the runway while the photographer was dodging the aircraft. The Me410 crashed into the personnel area, missing tents but unfortunately killing Col Hall in the ensuing crash. He was credited with firing the nose cannon as a warning as he left the field. The photograph right (3rd phot), shows how the fuselage broke up, the aft portion surviving the resulting fire."
