Staka. 4./Jagdgeschwader 26 "Schlageter" - Müller?
 

Can anyone please help to identify the attached signature from a Soldbuch to a member of 4./Jagdgeschwader 26 "Schlageter", dated 21.08.1939?

I was under the impression the Staka of 4./Jagdgeschwader 26 "Schlageter" at this time was 'Edu' Neumann?

I am reading the signature as a 'Müller', am I right? and if so can anyone help with exactly who he was?

Perhaps this was signed "durch einen Bevollmächtigten" or appointed representative for the ground personnel, or the like? Otherwise, it does apparently read Müller, and according to JFV 1, the Staffelkapitan of 4./JG 26 at that time was Oblt. Eduard Neumann.

Thanks Sidney, yes Neumann was it seems the Staka at that time.

The only 'possible' I can find from the Luftwaffe Officer Career Database that 'might' be the man in question is below;

MÜLLER, Kurt. (DOB: 05.06.17 in Hamburg). 13.06.38 Oblt., with 1. and 4. J/88 in Legion Condor. 23.08.38 Oblt., 1. J/88. (n.d.) with JFS 2. 05(04?).11.42 Oblt., appt Staka 10.(Jabo)/JG 26 (to 19.12.42) 19.12.42 KIA - Fw 190 A-4 (White 9) hit by ship's AA fire NE of Dover and attacked by a Typhoon of 609 Sqdn. then crashed into the sea about 2 km ENE of Deal Coast Guard Station, Kent). Buried at Ramsgate in St.Lawrence Cemetery/Kent. Credited with 3 victories in Spain.

But even then, it is ony conjecture I guess.

This Müller was 2./JG 1 and then I./JG 27 at this time and in any case was a Fw until 1 Aug 40

Chris, thank you for that, I guess I was just clutching at straws really.

Realistically, I don't think the identity of that signatory will be forthcoming.
