Ofw. Rothert of 2./(Sud)Fl.U.G. 1
Gentlemen,
In Norbert Loy's opus, Der Feldflugplatz Brunnthal, (2016), pp. 83-84, there is a piece called "Memories of Albert Bruck". Ofw. Bruck, a ferry pilot in 2./(Sud)Flugzeuguberfuhrungsgeschwader 1, recalls in detail the transfer on 29 April 1945 of Me 262 A-1a WNr. 500492 from Brunnthal to Innsbruck-Reichenau. At the end of his story he states, "... This spun me around and caused the landing gear to collapse and left the plane seriously damaged. At the same time approached another machine of the same model. The pilot had no problem landing the engine correctly. I knew him. It was our Squadron Leader, Herr Rothert ...['Es war Oberfeldwebel Rothert, von unserer Einheit.'] Can anyone give me the first name of Ofw. Rothert who presumably flew Me 262 A-1a "White 1 + S" to Innsbruck-Reichenau? best regards, Jim Geens |
