Part of a parachute?
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone confirm that attached image is from a part of a parachute or a plane? The part is found in the neightbourhood of a crashplace of a Lancaster in Oene ( Community Epe) 21-22 June 1944 in Holland.

Re: Part of a parachute?
It is a parachute quick release buckle.
https://heritageflightgeardisplays.w...hute-acquired/ Same design was used by airborne units: http://www.101airborneww2.com/equipment.html and even the Luftwaffe, see last item on this page: http://www.oldnautibits.com/stockarc...ogue=A&page=24 |
Re: Part of a parachute?
Very much like these-three German and one British. The British one was used 1 Dec 40 and the lack of damage could indicate that yours was used?
