Loss of B-17F 42-3212 379th BG 30 July 1943
Howdy - the referenced a/c crashed at Parham nr Framlingham UK returning from a mission to Kassel. Interesting is that is a MACR 1364 even though it crashed in the UK. Having suffered battle damage it apparently was trying to land at Framlingham when it crashed and burned killing the entire crew.
What I'm looking for is any additional info concerning the details of the crash and perhaps photos of the a/c or the crew. Thanks for any help. Bob |

Hello,
MACR is only four pages. Basically the a/c crashed and burned . Weather was not good and reference is made to fog, but I do not know if this was over the target or the UK on return. All Renfrew were killed recorded as KIA. Alex |

B-17F 42-3212 crashed at 1110 hours on 30 July 1943 on a field 3/4 mile NE of Parham house, Parham, Suffolk. The aircraft was practically burnt out. All 10 crew members were killed. Local legend has it the B-17 was attempting to land at Parham but was 'waved off' due to a truck on the runway. The crippled aircraft crashed whilst pulling up to go around.
A propeller blade from this B-17 is on display in the 390BG MAM at Parham. A large chunk of the same aircraft was recently found near the crash site. Bobgee - may I ask what your interest in this crash is? Regs, BC |

No, never seen any pictures of this crash. It is possible Merv the cobweb at Parham may have more info, esp if Parham took "Crash Action" on this one.
If you PM me your eMail I'll send you all the info and pictures of the relics I have. Regs, BC |
