He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
Gentleman,
is it possible to track the 'Stammkennzeichen' code of He111-H2 Werknummer 5509? This aircraft was assigned to KG53 and given the “Geschwaderkennzeichen“ A1+LN. It crashed in England on its second operational sortie on 16th November 1940. Thanks in advice Manfred |
Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
WNr.5509 may have been PF+FF, as WNr.5512 was PF+FI

Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
I would be very careful with making assumptions of homogeneous Stammkennzeichen blocks of aircraft manufactured prior to 1940. PF+FF was a He 111 E. No WNr. known to me.

Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
I have PF+FF as Do 17Z WNr.2822 later to Finland as DN-64

Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
The PF+FF was mentioned two times in flight logs as He111E (flight log Schludecker and Hommel).

Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
Hi Norbert
Please can you tell me why we have to be carefull with assumptions of homogeneous Stammkennzeichen blocks of aircraft manufactured prior to 1940? As I said, the aircraft I am interested in is He111-H2 Werknummer 5509 A1+LN which crashed in England in November 1940 on it's 2nd operational raid. TA-HÜ Manfred |
Re: He111-H2 WerkNr 5509
Because the STKZ, for these ones where given, not by the factory at completion, but at unit level end of 1939/Beg.1940 , that means the units received homogeneus STKZ blocks to distribute at their planes, disregarding the models of these ones
