Unit shortcut identification
Hi all!
Does someone know what does the first word of shortcut Leith.-Nach.(richten)-Komp.(anie) mean? This unit was based at Neubrandenburg... TIA Boris |
Re: Unit shortcut identification
Hi , i look in one dictionnary for German military short cut and just found Leit. for Leitend ( idea : principal, director ...)
and by exemple i found the name Leitstelle/Ln.Rg on the site from Michael Holm :http://www.ww2.dk/ground/ln/ln1.html Bsrg, Dan |

Re: Unit shortcut identification
Thank you all very much. Most probably it will be Leithorst. But does someone know what does it mean? I know what is Leit and also Horst, but together it does not make sense to me...
Thanks. |
Re: Unit shortcut identification
I guess “Leithorst” could be translated as “command airfield”
In each “Flughafenbereich” (greater airfield area?) one “Fliegerhorst” was determined as the "Leithorst", to which all subordinated airfield had direct communication links. This airfield was HQ of the commander of the area. Hope this helps, Robert |
