Claims with Spit IX & Spit VIII
 

Bonsoir.

I would like to know if someone know how many claims against FW 190, the RAF reported during the period from 1st october to 6th november 1943 over south of Italy?

My second question how many claims of these FW 190 were by Spit IX and by Spit VIII ?

Don't forget that USAAF Spitfires were involved too.

Many;

Destroyed only claims for the period you requested:

Spitfire Vc 3

Spitfire VIII 6

Spitfire IX 2

Total 11.

US Spitfires, no claims for FW190s, and nor did French Spitfires claim any. The only other claims for 190's over Southern Italy were 1 by US P-40's and 2 By P-38s.

My main research is about American pilots (especially L.C. Wade and Sandy Kallio) in the RAF inside of DAF over Sicily and southern Italy and the use of the new Spit VIII...
