Good morning Gentlemen,

what is the story behind the often-quoted 28 shared kills of Mikhail Dmitrievich Baranov ?
I found them in "Yakovlev Aces of World War 2" by Mellinger for example.
But this website

clearly indicates he had no shared kills.

mentions that sometimes 28 group kills are cited but doesn't include them in the kill list that it provides.

...update: now his kill list is reduced to a total of 23 with no shared kills.

But what about the well-known photos of his Yak-1 adorned with 24 stars ?
