I/ZG 76's claims in Poland

Hi guys

I found a photo (of poor quality) of the score board of the I/ZG76 in Poland listing his victories:20
Even with a magnifying glass, two claims are illegible.
"abschuss"n°10:Hptm. Illegible 05/09/39 10h50 PZL P.24
"abschuss"n°16/Oblt.R........illegible 09/09/39 10h00 PZL P.24 Lublin

I read several posts on 12 o'clock that on 02/09/39 ,the I/ZG76 claimed 9 "abschuss",but on my photo;there are only 4:Reinecke,Jager,Nagel,Lent,where are the 5 others? not confirmed?

lt Bohmel a claim on 02/09/39,but nothing about him on my photo.

Someone has the answer,
Michel

I have 31 claims between 2 Sep and 11 Sep 39. Based on what you have written, there were nine claims on 5 Sep, none at 1000 hrs and no PZL 24as. The only Hptms were Falck (PZL P23) and Pape (2 x PZL P11). As to 9 Sep 39, there were 8 claims, none at 1000 hrs but this looks to be Oblt Rudi Rademacher

Well, well, well Chris,I anderstand your answer, but how I have to interpret what I read on my photo in total contradiction with your statements?
It's well Hptm.Pape for 05/09/39 because I can decipher 4 letters of his name with the 2° letter "a". but only one claim and well a PZL.P.24,maybe10h50.

Yes,a PZL P23 for Falck on 05/09,9h40??? very difficult to read!

8 claims and no 9 on 05/09 (easy to read)
3 claims on 06/09
only 3 on 09/09 and no 8 (Woltersdorf,Bohmel and so Rademacher)10h00,10h10,10h20

Mystery,mystery

Hello,

In one of the early In Action Squadron/Signal publications (No.30 Messerscmitt Bf 110 Zerstorer in action/Jerry Campbell,1977), on page 17 there is photo of the I/.ZG 76 score board showing the first 50 victories of the unit. The first 20 (2 Sept 1939 - 11 Sept 1939) are:
01. Hptm Gunther Reinecke
02. Lt Hans Jager
03. Oblt Christoph Nagel
04. Lt Helmut Lent
05. Oblt Gustav Uellenbeck
06. Lt Helmut Fahlbusch
07. Hptm Wolfgang Falck
08. Lt Maximilian Graeff
09. Oblt Gordon Gollob
10. Hptm Horst Pape
11. Ofw Gerhard Herzog
12. Ofw Georg Fleischmann
13. Lt Helmut Fahlbusch
14. Lt Hans Jager
15. Ofw Georg Fleischmann
16. Oblt Rudi Rademacher
17. Lt Gerhard Bohmel
18. Lt Helmut Woltersdorf
19. Hptm Wolfgang Falck
20. Hptm Wolfgang Falck

Some of the detail is hard to read (I have added forename, and omitted umlauts).

Photo is attributed to Hans Seebrandt.

Super!your list matches well with my photo!except that for me,for the 10° and 16° I can't read the name of claimants, now it's clear they are Pape and Rademacher.

Thank's
Michel

Re: I/ZG 76's claims in Poland

I should state that this photo is not evidence of the complete kill list for I./ZG 76; subsequent research in the 40 years since this photo was published by myself and others has revealed a total which I quoted earlier. For example, a late friend of mine flew with 1 Staffel and had claims in Poland which are not on this list

Hi Chris,

I think his additional claims are pure s-fi. I don`t see more victims for I./ZG76 during PC.

Hallo,
a friendly collector has 2 very early victory cups from Gerhard Herzog ZG 76 with the following engraved dates:
9.9.1939 10,05 PLZ 24 Belryce - Polen
9.9.1939 11,00 Doppeldecker Deblin - Poland

best regards

Hi,

that must be a joke :-)
I can confirm only this bi-plane but under 5.9.39. He forced down a Czech pilot.

Robert
