1 Sept 39 German aircraft intercept Polish planes 15km in German airspace
 

Currently writing about the experiences of Berliners under Allied Bombardment.

Have two witnesses who heard that the air raid warning at 1800 had been sounded in Berlin on 1 September 1939 because Polish aircraft had flown 15 km into German airspace where by they were intercepted.

Can any one confirm this ?

There is no possibility that such filght from Polish plane/s ever happend on 1.09.39.
There were no air attack done by Polish bomber/s or reccon filght/s done by Polish plane/s too. No way.

Probably it was misidentfication, and it was a German plane/s

I remember reading an account about it. If I remember correctly, the conclusion was that it had been a false alarm.

These were bombers He 111s (KG 27) back from the air raid on Warsaw.

The experience of Allied air raids was one, but there were also attacks on Berlin by Soviet aviation, for example in August and September 1941 (10 raids, of which only a few actually occurred). The scale of aerial terrorism in the performance of Soviet aviation was much smaller, but not only the RAF and the USAAF carried out raids on Berlin.

Will you also write about Soviet raids? Is their scale so insignificant that there is nothing to write about here?
