Joachim Müncheberg-FB or Diary

Does anyone know if these still exist, especially for his time over Malta in early 1941?

I have looked it up in the book by Hans-Joachim Röll, but there doesn't seem to be any such detailed information. :-(

There is a chapter about his combat in the Mediterranean, but it isn't detailed enough.

On a general note, what happened during the war to flying books of fallen Luftwaffe pilots ? Were they supposed to be sent to the family, stored somewhere or destroyed ?

They were send to the relatives. A FB was a personal document.

....& whether the family kept it or it survived Allied bombing is another matter

Hi Chris

I would imagine some of the information you seek is in my 'Hurricanes over Malta'.

Can I be of assistance?

Cheers
Brian

Thanks Brian but I have all the info I need apart from German witnesses of M's shooting down of a 3 Gp TF Wellington on 15 Mar 41 ( I am in touch with a relative of the passenger who was killed)
