Operation Bodenplatte Y-29 Asche, Belgium

During Operation Bodenplatte at Y-29 Ashe, Belgium Jan 1, 1945 the 352nd FG was attacked which is now known as the battle for News Years Day! There forward airfield was attacked by Fw 190s and Bf 109s. William Whisner destroyed 2 Fw 190s and 2 Bf 109s that day. The last Bf 109 he destroyed was going head to head right right above his airfield as all the ground crew watched. Does anyone know which JG unit was flying the Bf 109s he destroyed? What Gruppe, staffel etc. This is for a remarque on Trudgian's "The Battle for News Years Day" and I am trying to get the markings correct on the last Bf 109 that Whisner destroyed that day?
Thanks,

Suggest you get hold of Manrhho and Putz's 'Bodenplatte' which will help you very much

Don't know whether M & P can identify the Staffel but the unit targeting Asch ( 366 and 352 FGs) was JG11 ( I. and III. Gruppen had FW190As and the 109Gs and Ks were in II. Gruppe). They were G-14s and K-4s. Known II.Gruppe losses were Fhr. Hoffmann ( II.Gruppe) Me109K-4 331510, Fhr. Huss ( 6./St.) Me109K-4 330474 Black 3 and Fw. Reschke ( 6./St.) Me109G-14 785119 Black 5 ( that's assuming JG11 hadn't increased their Gruppen to 4 Staffeln in 1944 which would then include 5. 6. 7. and 8. Staffeln).
I reckon JG11 only had 3 per Gruppe as 10./JG11 had FW190 Jabos and 11./JG11 had Me109Ts. JG11's RDV marking was a 900mm wide yellow fuselage band usually with a white spiral on the spinner.
These are Whisner's claims list.............

Had not the Bf109Ts been assigned to training units by then?

Sorry Kutscha...... only had 109Ts to July 1944 when 4./JG11 was formed from 10. and 11. Staffeln; I think I was mistaken about the 3 Staffeln per Gruppe as there were 12 on Jan.1st 1945 ie. 4 Staffeln in each of I./II./III. Gruppen thus II. = 5/6/7/8. Staffeln.
This loss list came from an old library book ( I think by Jerry Scutts) , shows 8 Me109s lost ( 6 killed, 2 POW). From that the Staffel colours MAY be
5th - white, 6th - black, 7th - yellow, 8th - blue.

This is a very nice model of the 109G-14 by Craig Gardiner, flown by Ofw. Meindl ( 8./Staffel) on Jan 1st and MIA; a real hotch-potch of colours.
