Beaufighter on a fighter interception patrol from Dyce sighted the Blohm & Voss BV 138 and attacked - log book reads

"Damaged Hull and one engine which caught fire - looked in poor shape sent out an SOS."

Did the flying boat make it back to Norway ?

A C-1 of 2/406 suffered 30% damage in the combat but returned safely with no crew casualties

Should have said that this crew were looking for Wk Nr 310090/K6+DK shot down same location by 248 Sqn at 2130 hrs 8 June 42. RAF crew reported seeing 3 crew getting out. The combat on 9 Jun 42 was logged at 0659 hrs
