killclaim: LaGG-5 w.b.
Who knows what "w.b." stands for? I speak german pretty fluently as I am german, but nevertheless I have no clue.
It is not related to the type of front where the claim was achieved. |

w.b.
Hello guys
This is from Tony Wood's claims lists concerning definitions: w.b. = wirklich beschossen = well shot-up or damaged. I hope that this explains this designation. Horrido! Leo |
Re: killclaim: LaGG-5 w.b.
It is the equivalent of the RAF or USAAF 'probable' kill, but contrary to the Allied airforces the Luftwaffe didn't recognize (and credit) them.
"w.b." kills in Tony Wood's lists are usually coming from books and diairies, not from official victory lists. |
Re: killclaim: LaGG-5 w.b.
Sorry, but I believe the "w.b." stands for "wirksam beschossen". Which you could compare indeed with a "probable" on the US side.
cheers, John. |
Re: killclaim: LaGG-5 w.b.
Yes, "wirksam beschossen" sounds reasonable, it means "hit with results".
Thanks, guys! |
Re: killclaim: LaGG-5 w.b.
Yep, wirksam beschossen, not wirklich, asked it some months ago as well, it is a small error in Tony's site.
