L-4 crash (43-30046) - 2 DNB - 7 May 1945 - Germany
 

Further my research of ETO US Army artillery pilots (KIA/DNB): on 7 May 1945 an L-4 of the 202th Field Artillery Group spun into the ground. .

Occupants were both killed. Pilot Capt. Norris B. Gee (O-1174575) and a passenger, a Capt. Johnson. Not sure if he also was with same FA Group.

According entry of Capt. Gee on findagrave.com, locatiob reportedly near Uetze (Hannover area).

Trying to find full identity of Capt. Johnson. I am aware he has a widespread surname, but any lead is appreciated, thanks.

It is possible that this article on a Fresno newspapers is about him: a Johnson, "reconnaissance pilot" for the 202nd FA Group, lost in May 1945. But the preview is not in the right order, and I have no access to full version (but I think people here have an account for the site below)

Also found this on Norris Gee and his brother, Richard. Sad story.

Richard was in the 474th FG, 428th FS. On 22 June, 1944 he was on a skip bombing mission in P-38 42-67673 just north of Herville, France. He was hit while flying at 150 feet just as he released his bombs. His plane did a slow diving turn to the right and crashed and burned in a field.

Thanks for your fine answers. He must be the Capt. Johnson of the L-4 accident. Date and FA Group match here.

In another reference I now found "Buetze" as location of crash. This may be Bützer instead, a small village a bit NW of Brandenburg and just E. of the Elbe River. This river is mentioned in one of the newspaper articles.

Indeed, sad story. Two sons, both killed.
