Little to identify but maybe someone can recognize it.

Crash landed Spitfire on beach, looks like a Spitfire I/II, with a white M painted under the cockpit. No tail or engine

Looks to be P9314 EB-M of 41 Sqn.

good morning I cant be certain but this I believe is the same machine the beach may be Calais or Dunkirk...

Thank you gentlemen, this seems to be the bird. Looks like the engine and other parts were removed but the hulk stayed on the beach.

Also no mention of loss on June 22,1940 in FCL I. The information on the loss was from "Spitfire: The History"

Martin Gleeson believes this airplane was lost on June 1,1940. I'm inclined to agree with him because of the well thought out argument. See link

Another interesting discussion

I believe we can be pretty certain P9314 was with 41 Sq in spite of the unit's ORB. If I have to chose from the aircraft's record card and the unit's ORB, I always prefer the former.

After reading what Martin Gleeson wrote I admit he has a very good point.

Not even the latest Dunkirk book by Simon Parry has managed to correct entirely these two losses since he list N3107 and N3108 as the two aircraft lost with 41 Sq....

Hello,
Has anyone checked just how many 41 Sqn a/c were lost or taken out of service in June '40 , apart from N3107 and P9314(P9344?).

Here's another view of the wreck showing more of the landscape behind and what appears to be a camouflaged radar/flak position on the cliff.
