64. Squadron - claims from 1.6.1940
 

Hi all,

I have question about claims from this date. Based of some information, there was some claims "on the ground" - Ju 87 and Ju 86.

Please, can you share more info about this info?

hi all,

during my searching, I found this info:

Air Battle for Dunkirk (N. Franks): F/O A.J.O. Jeffrey claim 1 Ju 87 and 3 Ju 87 on the ground ??? for me, during this period, this claim is very strange. Can somebody confirm, or all these claims are in the air?
Same info I have from info about same pilot, which lost his life 25.7.1940 during Battle of Britain:

During same fight over Dunkirk, same squadron lost 1 Spitfire P9449 with P/O T.C.Hey and another was damaged - N3230 with Sgt. A.F. Laws

It is the same A J O Jeffrey and have you downloaded the F540 from the NA which might help your search? Also with all of your recent questions, have you got RAF Fighter Command Claims of World War 2 which again would help you?

Hi,
His combat report for June 1st gives a bit of detail.
He identifies that the attack took place on Ostend aerodrome.
The three Ju87's were parked up closely together whilst the Ju86 was parked a bit further away on its own.
He states that he saw strikes on all aircraft during his attacks and smoke from the 3 ju87's.
He also states that he didn't hang about to see the extent of damage to the Ju86 as he was in a hurry to get away because the ground defences were starting to open up.

2 Chriss Goss - Unfortunately, I borrowed a whole set of Foreman books (Fighter Command claims and Fighter Command war diaries) 5 years ago and I have never seen books :-( So I will have to buy again

2 gedburke3 - thanks for this info, strange in this period, that RAF fighter attacked enemy airfield.

Hi all,

based on my newest book in my library- First of the Few: 5 June - July 1940 from Brian Cull, Spitfire P9449 was lost on the 5 of July with P/O D.K. MILNE during the fight with JG 51.
If this is corrct, on which Spit was lost /O T.C.Hey - info about P9449 is in book Battle of France by Peter Cornwell.
