W.Nr. and fate of Ju88 C-2 R4+FL 3./NJG2?
 

Dear all,

I am looking for info on the W.Nr. and ultimate fate of Ju88 C-2 R4+FL that served in the Fernnachtjagd role with 3./NJG2 at Gilze-Rijen in 1941 and was involved in an accident at Catania on 22 December 1941.

Dear Theo,

at this date (22.11.42) there is a reported "Bruchlandung" (crash landing) of Ju 88 C-2, 0736 (no code given) of 3,/NJG 2 with 80% damage. This happened at Fl.Pl. Capodichino (i.e. airport Neapel/Napoli/Naples).

There is a good chance that your given code 'R4+FL' belonged at the given date to the WNr. 0736 ?!

Good to be hearing from you again Uwe, and thanks for the info. I believe, however, that the incident that you describe can't be the Ju88 that I mention, as 'my' Ju88 made a 'Fliegerdenkmal' (tipped over on its nose) with max 20% damage. (I recently obtained a scan of a photo of this Ju88 standing on its nose for the Nachtjagd Combat Archive series).
