Not just »Generalquartiermeister«? (That's how it is in my dictionary, at least)

Re: QGM files

"QGM" = Quartiergeneralmeister? I have never seen this abbreviation or term before. Nor is it in my copy of Manual of German Air Force Terminology, German-to-English, published in 1945-46 by A.I.12/Air Ministry, London.

Generalquartiermeister, on the other hand, was abbreviated "Gen.Qu.", according to the Air Ministry publication cited above.

Normally referred to as GQM not QGM.

Re: QGM files

Like "Bones" (Bone files) were compiled by DVL from Hospitals, these "GQM" are Luftwaffe. I prefer use LWFLV and LWFLS because there are two (actually more than one copy, most in two copies) sets of files, saying GQM does not differentiate.

One is Schulen und Sonstige (from September 40 and to September 1944), other normal is Fliegende Verbanden 1939 to 1945, with all of FLV 1944 "missing" (I think displaced in Paris, Remi ... look again please?!)

I think 1944 was detained in France for copying and then misfiled, - Probably because so many airfields were bombed there and the French still trying to figure this out. Maybe the researcer died and it was left at his apartament. But I have absolute no proof of this. Just feeling, say vision ....
