Kenley Wing August 1942
 

Does anybody know the identity of the Kenley Wing Leader in August 1942? He flew two sorties with 611 Squadron whilst supporting operation Jubilee, it may have been W/C C.B.F. Kingcombe, but I wonder if anybody can confirm this?

Hi,

the Wing Leader at Kenley from 29 July 1942 to Mid November 1942 was indeed Brian Kingcome and as such was almost certainly leading the wing on 19th August over Dieppe.

Correction to Wing leader's listing :-

M.J.Louden should read April 1942 - May 1942 , however many sources state that he was in the Middle East Desert Air Force at this time ! But "Spitfire Leader" by C.F.Shores says that 485 Squadron ORB shows him leading the Kenley Wing on 29 April 1942 !

I've been away a bit, so just found this post; yes I later identified W/C Brian Kingcombe as the Kenley Wing Leader; he flew four missions during the day.
