STKZ for BF 109G-6/AS W.Nr 163 796
 

This aircraft of 9./JG 1, Kennung "Yellow 15+I", flown by Ofhr. Hubert Heckmann, rammed a 4th FG Mustang on 25 May 1944, after which Heckmann successfully belly landed while the Mustang pilot bailed out and was captured.

A photo of Heckmann's aircraft on page 969 of JG 1 and 11, Teil2 (Prien/Rodeike) shows the last 2 letters of the STKZ as "E + Y".

(1) Any knowledge of the complete code ?

(2) How would the WNr. be displayed on the vertcal stabilizer ?

Schmoll lists the Wnr. block 163 788 to 163 799 as G6, but the referenced photo clearly shows the AS motor mount.

I have W/Nr.163790 as NX+TF - Bf109G-6 with Mtt dated 19.10.44 (AS Engine)

I found the LEMB STKZ database - that looks as good a source as I'm likely to find - so thanks for reading.
