Re: P-40 lost:22/10/42
Hello Michel,
Kittyhawk 1 ET1016 3 Sqn RAAF "HS-D" P/O Garth Angus Neill, 404773 - RAAF - DFM. Seems he was hit by flak, not shot down (?). http://www.3squadron.org.au/indexpages/kia.htm#WW2 Alex |

Hello Col,
Thanks for correction, I mistyped . It does give DFM in the link I gave. Now edited. Alex |
Re: P-40 lost:22/10/42
Hello Alex
Indeed, the 3°RAAF Sqd lost a P-40,but if one refers to the description of the facts,it's not in the same action as for the losse of the P-40 of 4°SAAF Sqd. -3°RAAF Sqd not being part of 233 Wing but part of 239 Wing(3°RAAF,112,250,450 Sqd.) -different time between losses of 4°SAAF and 3°RAAF Sqdr. But,perhaps the facts mentioned by Shores and Cie are poorly reported? Despite a IDENTIFIABLE QUALITY,I often noticed contradictions between the actions described and the results in the summaries. To be continued... Michel |
