Fw 190s from Alfred Price
Still sorting through his 1000s of photos-anyone seen these before? There are hundreds of Fw 190 photos and most are not annotated on the back

I had no idea he had died, how did I miss that, love his books.
Btw Chris, in case you don't know Richard Wittmann passed away last year. I remember exchanging e mails about him re your Fighter bombers over Britain book a few years ago. |

Re: Fw 190s from Alfred Price
Hi Chris,
For what it's worth, there appears to be a different photo of your second Fw 190 on p. 48 in Vol. 2 of Dora Kurfurst und Rote 13/Karl Ries (1964) which is wrongly captioned: Eine Kette FW 190 A-1 auf ihrem Liegeplatz im besetzten Frankreich. Beim vorderen Flugzeug (gelbe7) wird gerade der Motor abgebremst. The black lightning motif seen behind the engine exhaust appears to be an incomplete rendition of "der stilisierte Adler" seen on the Fw 190 As of III./JG2 on p. 64 of Vol. 1 of the same series. best regards, Jim |
Re: Fw 190s from Alfred Price
Why was the first photo (190 in flight) extensively retouched? Look closely, it's been seriously altered.
