Who knows more about the JG1 attack on the B-24's (27-01-1943)
Dear members,
I'm wandering if somebody can help me with any information about the JG1 attack on the B-24's of 93BG/329SQ and 44BG after they bomb Lemmer, The Netherlands on the 27th of January 1943. I only know that short after the B-24's bomb de Lemmer they were attached by FW190's an ME109's of IV/JG1 (stationed at Woensdrecht?) and one FW190 piloted was shot down Ehrhardt Bruhnke. At the same moment FW190's of 5. and 6./JG 1 refueled at Schiphol (but did they also attacked the B-24 formation later on). When the B-24's were over the Waddenzee they were attacked by FW190 of 3./JG1. One of the FW190 get went down piloted by Feldwebel Fritz Koch. I also found that This is all I know. Maybe someone know how many German fighter attacked the B-24 formation and from which staffels and bases they came. I also wandered if the JG1 was equipped with FW190's and ME109's? Any other information about the attack in the B-24's is welcome. Thank you all in advance for you great help. |
