Mystery 190
Attached is said to have been taken by Flt Sgt A R Robson of 485 Sqn who claimed it as a probable at 1945 hrs on 4 May 1942 near Ambleteuse. Alfred Price says JG 2 but no losses or claims around that time and nothing for JG 26. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Mystery 190
Both were flying Bf 109s and the location is not right

Re: Mystery 190
It seems a possibility that the pilot managed to make a forced landing. It doesn't look like it's a human bailing out but stray equipment instead.
There is a JG-2 Bauchlandung on May 4,1942 but it's a Bf-109. In JG26: Volume 1 There is mention of a "One First Gruppe Fw-190 belly landed on Arques after sustaining damage from a Spitfire" on May 4,1942. It seems this is a likely candidate. |
Re: Mystery 190
Hood and helmet came off according to the CR and several hits were recorded. Still nothing recorded that fits

Re: Mystery 190
Those who have the LW loss list can verify for us, if ANY NAGr machine is recorded lost this date?
Any chances of this being a NAGr machine lost, Chris? Adriano |
Re: Mystery 190
NAG 13 was not formed until the end of 1942

Re: Mystery 190
I was thinking about 1./Seeaufklärungsgruppe 128 but they received their Fw 190 only about a year later.

Re: Mystery 190
As you say the date is not right as would be the location as 128 would have been operating from Brest

Re: Mystery 190
One of the reconnaissance Staffeln perhaps? They had a few Fw 190 through into 1944.
