Luftwaffe over Normandy

It is commonly believed that the Luftwaffe played a small role in Normandy. Not true. See this site:

Normandy

.agreed there was rather more action on June 6 than is generally thought..D-Day was the 'best' day for the Germans purely in terms of victories.. ie around 24..some 300 sorties were flown as opposed to 14,000 by the Allies.. some 1,300 Luftwaffe aircraft were in the west by June 10..a figure which had shrunk to around 500 by mid-August..losses were huge..devastatingly so..eg towards the end of August II./JG 6 was virtually wiped out in one day's action...
but no, in general terms, the Luftwaffe played only a limited role in Normandy..
