Hptm Helmut Weixelbaum
 

Does anyone know about the career of this recce pilot? Born Schwimbach 11 Oct 17 (EKM 51513/51), he was with 1/120 in 1940-42 (being awarded DKiG 8 Sep 42 and Ehrenpokal in May 42) and then went to 2/123 being St Kap (but from when?). He was lost over the Med 4-5 Sep 44

01.06.44 in 2.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123, promo to Hptm.
04.09.44 Hptm. and Staka 2.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123, MIA – in Ju 88 shot down near Alexandria/Egypt during a recce mission.

Doug: Thanks for this but this was a very old posting and I have been in touch with his sisters, nephew and widow in the interim years. Erik is the Grandson of Weixelbaum's Bordfunker and I am filling him in as to their careers
