Bombing off a sub or ship off Britanny on 14 March 1944
Hello, on 14 March 1944 at 0100 hrs (German time) the French steam trawler Ter was bombed by an aircraft and sunk 40 km off Penmarc'h, Britanny. 4 crew died in the attack and 6 more of exposure in the life raft, leaving only 4 survivors.
The official French document say that the nationality of the aircraft was unknown, leaving the possibility that it was German, but given the location it was probably a RAF aircraft. Has someone a report of an attack on a ship or a sub in this area that night ? Thanks in advance |

Laurent,
Found an article in an online Toulouse newspaper ("Le Midi socialiste") of 29 March 1944 in which the attack is attributed to "un avion anglo-américain". See https://rosalis.bibliotheque.toulous...-----TE--0---- Regards, Leendert |

Laurent,
This link may be informative as well: https://www.cairn.info/revue-guerres...try_download=1 Heading of publication is "Les pêcheurs bretons et les relations avec la Grande-Bretagne pendant la seconde guerre mondiale". A list of Bretagne fishing vessels attacked by RAF aircraft is provided. Regards, Leendert |
