Feldwebel Wilhelm Lientscher 8/KG54
I am researching this pilot who went missing along with his crew on the 9th June 1944 over Normandy
I would like to know what the luftwaffe losses were that day and how many RAF squadrons were active. Thank you Steven. |

The attached extract from the Air Operations Watch report for 9 June, ref. CX/MSS/OPD 1199 (in National Archives file HW 13/39) may be helpful.
The abbreviation LRB = long range bomber, by the way. |
Re: Feldwebel Wilhelm Lientscher 8/KG54
For Luftwaffe losses go to http://baseportal.de/cgi-bin/basepor...&cmd=do_search and type "09.06.1944" in the date field. The database shows all known aircraft and crew losses, but gives no detail of how they were lost, except the location when known. The site is in French but probably not hard to use if you don't read it.
The database is supposed to cover the Normandy campaign, the first loss is from 5 June (maybe a typo), the last on 29 August. A little trick: If you use the URL below, you will see all lines of the database on the screen at the same time (rather than only 20 lines): http://baseportal.de/cgi-bin/basepor...1&range=0,3500 |
