Hello Steve,
this Fw 190 A-5 of 5./JG 54 black 1 was lost on 28 March 1944 10 km south of Ostrow. The pilot Uffz Siegfried Syroth parachuted and was wounded. Source: JG 54 Homepage. Regards Leo |

Thank you very much for that information. The main ID plate for this plane survives. It was taken and kept by a GI, coming into my collection just recently. He was in France, Belgium and Germany, and took a number of plates from downed/captured airplanes. It is a mystery how this 190, if, as listed, crashed destructively in Poland (100%), or at least its identity plate, made it west into his hands. Further research awaits. Steve |
