Hello Steve,

this Fw 190 A-5 of 5./JG 54 black 1 was lost on 28 March 1944 10 km south of Ostrow. The pilot Uffz Siegfried Syroth parachuted and was wounded.

Thank you very much for that information. The main ID plate for this plane survives. It was taken and kept by a GI, coming into my collection just recently. He was in France, Belgium and Germany, and took a number of plates from downed/captured airplanes. It is a mystery how this 190, if, as listed, crashed destructively in Poland (100%), or at least its identity plate, made it west into his hands. Further research awaits.
