February 12th, 1945 A/c loss. Texas, USA.
Hello,
Am seeking an aircraft lost/crashed in Texas (?) Which it seems was cause of at least one fatality. Date given is 12th February, 1945. Unit said to be possibly VN-14. British Naval Airman base given as HMS Saker. He is at rest in Corpus Christi ( Rose Hill ) Memorial Park, Texas, USA. Problem is that I cannot find any details of an air crash that would match his loss. Alex |

HMS Saker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Saker
VN-14 - Was a US Navy Training Squadron With so much British activity in Texas during WWII (both USAAF/US Navy) you may need to contact either http://accident-report.com/USN/aircraft.html or https://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/db.asp I found several USAAF accidents in Texas on Feb 12, 1945, but VN-14 would be specific for the US Navy. https://www.aviationarchaeology.com/...y/Feb1945S.htm You could also contact https://www.rosehillmp.com/ and see if they have any Service Personnel that passed away on Feb 12, 1945. |

As far as I know VN-14 at Corpus Christi was an SNJ intermediate training squadron. Unfortunately, I don't have any accident reports for the SNJ.

Thank you gentlemen for your replies, I am grateful for your help.
I was under the impression that it may have been a Navy aircraft. Col in the book you note only the name, date and USN is noted (page 494). However I now see the details on page 484. I had not looked at those pages as I had thought than they were listed by date, it seems that this is not the case :( Many thanks to you all, Alex |

I've added a few documents and offered edit suggestions to the memorial manager here:
