Blenheim claim by JG54 Sept 8th 1940
 

Hi,

A Bristol Blenheim of 218 Squadron FTR from a photo recon sortie between Knocke and The Hague on Sept 8th 1940. It failed to return.

New information suggests it could have been shot down by a Bf109 of JG54. Can anyone confirm this or suggest a possible victor ?

The only claims for Blenheims I can see are by 1./JG 26 and 7./JG 27 off Calais, 3./JG 51 and 7./JG 53 all being early PM into the sea. Of interest I have a fragment from the fuselage roundel of a Blenheim from this date with the time 1413 hrs

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply, the crew departed RAF Oakington at 15:55 hours. Perhaps a German convoy or coast flak claimed it.
