Hello Franck!

"Rückmarsch von Commercy nach Geislautern"?
Geislautern is located near Völklingen, round about 100 km NE of
Commercy.

Wolfgang

Re: Help needed to read writings

Many thanks both for this reading.
This does concern the accident of a JG53 machine (Weisse 15) pictured in the area; large area.
It appears one photo has been done by troops during a journey between Commercy and Geislautern (What the heck this troop was doing, going back home during this period?).
It appears on another photo taken at "Roshany" (sic)
So where is "Roshany" situated between Commercy and Geislautern? For sure Roshany is a mistake but I didn't find a place with an approaching name in this area.
Last, the machine appears on a photo taken at Verdun's train station ...
Which is not exactly in the same area. I can imagine the remains have been transported there but it's not enough to pinpoint Roshany so far.

Regards,
Franck.

Re: Help needed to read writings

Just a suggestion, but the writing of the place name is spelt Rohsany, not Roshany.

Re: Help needed to read writings

Hmmm-best hit near Verdun: Fort Rozelier.
There is an airfield Verdun-le-Rozelier which was used in WW2.
But i could not find anything if this was used by the Luftwaffe.
Maybe a german soldier wrote this name like he had heard it?

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang

Hey Wolfgang !!!!
I don't know if you made it but it's a serious challenger knowing it is written "Flugplatz Rohsany". This "Flugplatz" - and not the expected habitual "bruchlandung" (or equivalent: abgeschossen and so on) made me think a lot.
"Maybe a german soldier wrote this name like he heard it?"
More than a "Maybe", an habitual occurrence.

Thank you Wolfgang. Very helpful.

Regards,
Franck.

Re: Help needed to read writings

franck,
how do the two photos relate to each other?
do they only come from the same seller?

"rohsany" does not sound like france or germany ...
and that are different handwritings!?

best regards
marc
