Hi,

One unit that I can think of that was based in the area, more precisely at Vlissingen, practically in the walking distance from Walcheren, around 26 October 1940, was 6./JG 54. The Staffel reported no losses on that day.

Likewise, I found no evidence of any such loss in Michael Balss' database for the location/date either.

Was there any RAF claim made for Walcheren on that date?

Sinisa

Sinisa and Snautzer,

Many thanks for looking. It was in an account I was reading but the date was suspect.

Andy does this one help 24-10-40 Fahj/Uffz Helmut Brixel killed in crash at Bergen 9/JG54 . Unfortunately the list I have only shows names and is hard to read. However the Volksbund site shows Fahj/Uffz Helmut Brixel born 11-09-16 as killed this day buried Ysselsteyn ,

Shown on another site as Bf 109 E-1 6071

Hi Brian,

The Bf 109 loss you suggested occured a couple of miles from my place of living, which is too far from the Scheld/Walcheren area.

Regards,
Hans

Hi Hans.

Thanks for pointing that out , I could not find the cause for this loss whether combat related or just an accident,
