German Reports of Downed Allied Fighters - Translation
 

Hello,

I found this interesting document for my next book about a pilot crashed on 8 June 1944.
Is it possible to help me to translate the informations on these documents ? I used an online translator but I don’t understand the meaning of all these descriptions.

I can also read a Flak unit : Flak Blt 607.
Do you know what is the exact unit ?

Dear Friend:
What you are looking at looks to be a copy of the German J Report #1420. This was for Gerald J Dix of HqSq/355FG for 8 June 1944. He became a POW and was flying P-51B, 43-7164 that was coded YF-D. His USAAF MACR was #5750. Crash site of the J report was listed as "Libourne-nr/ 6km S Coutres". the German Fighter grid location was RU 35/14 WS. I can only guess that this was a standardized form and that the teletype strips were glue to the Form. I have never seen this type of Form though it looks similar to the Ja type Forms that were used for recording personnel effects that were taken off of POWs at the time of capture. The Archives at College Park, MD has an incomplete collection of the Ja Reports. Sorry that I couldn't help with the translation but I do not speak/read German. Hope that this helps a bit. Ted51

If you’re asking about the abbreviations:

FS = Fernschreiben = telegram
Kdo. = Kommando = either detachment (group of soldiers) or command (as in a command staff)
Ziff. = Ziffer = number
Erk. = Erkennung = recognition or identification
Roem. Eins C = (Roman numeral) Ic = Intelligence Officer (on a staff)
E Nr. = Erkennungsnummer = i/d number (e.g. on dog tags)
Flgk. Wfr = Feldluftgaukommando Westfrankreich = Air Force Administrative Region Command, West France
Flak- Blt. = unless someone knows better, this may be an error for Flak- Btl. = Flak Battalion
Suedl. = Südlich = to the south of
Unbeannt = error for “unbekannt” = unknown
100 Proz. = 100 Prozent = 100%
Kdo. Fl. H. Ber. 5/roem. Zwölf = Aerodrome Region Command 5/XII

is it about the full text, or individual abbreviations?

e.g.:
Kdo. Fl. H. Ber. 5/roem. Zwölf

is meant to be:
Flughafen-Bereichs-Kommando 5/XII

and translated into:
Airport Area Command 5/XII
